Shalom Brothers Hits the Road

As part of the company's intense and refocused marketing efforts, Shalom Brothers is about to go door to door-literally. The company just the finishing touches on a new " showroom on wheels," which took a year to develop. The end product: a custom- made 30-foot camper.

According to John Tierney, national sales manager to Shalom Brothers, the interior is very plush, with comfortable seating, an office area and 6x9 sliding rack that was custom made by Rick Kirkwood at Quality Display. Holding more than 100 rugs, the display will showcase the company's complete range of 40 products including Sino, Afghani, Pakistani, and Indian goods.

"We're trying to raise the bar on outside representation," said Tierney, adding; that he plans to visit "every single rug retailer across the country." The van will allow the company to show new products on a continuous basis, rather than every six months at trade shows. " The world goes around and the area rug market changes at least six times in that period." He said, " Sales representatives owe their customers more than a catalog and a little gossip about what Joe and Harry are doing." " With this new traveling showroom, we are dignifying are retailers time with live samples. We are stepping up to the next level."
